  • Perchance to Dream Audiobook

I have recently narrated for Bolinda Audio, the origin story that led me to write Comes the Night. They have just send me the lovely cover design which is clearly intended to echo the marvellous cover Zoe Sadokierski created for Comes the Night.

  • Works in Progress: 9 Tales

A graphic short story collection featuring stories by Isobelle and the Graphic story group from her Patreon Site. A work in progress. There is one rough to which has been added a red feather and a fox tail, which I drew 🙂

  • Book Addiction Cruise

    Posted in Author News

I have just returned from 10 nights on a cruise. It was not something I have ever done, or honestly, wanted to do. Karyn Stratton from Book Addiction wrote to invite me, and given the chance to do something I have never done before, I could not resist. It was a pretty amazing experience. Here are just a few images. I have written about it at length on my Patreon...

  • Mountain Retreat

    Posted in Author News

Once a year I go up Mt Hotham in Victoria for a week, on retreat with a group. We bring our own food and cook for ourselves, sometimes together sometimes separately, except for the first night when I cook for us. We have this year nominated September 20 – 28 as our retreat dates. Reach out to me for more information if you would like to join us. There will...

  • Works in Progress: Saltsong

Saltsong is a graphic novel continuing the adventures of Little Fur. Isobelle illustrated the Little Fur series, and is often asked if there will be another Little Fur novel. There may well be, but for now she is working with renowned Canberra digital artist Paul Summerfield, to merge their art to tell the story of an adventure that takes Little Fur to the sea, and under it. She and Paul...

  • Works in Progress: Darkbane

Darkbane is the frontline novel I am working on now and I hope to hand over a full draft to Allen and Unwin by the end of this year, whereupon they will republish the first two books in the lead up to the release of Darkbane. I have spent the first half of this year on the road with Comes the Night, but in the second half of the year,...

  • Perchance to Dream, Short Story by Isobelle Carmody

The District of Wonders website put up a reading of Isobelle Carmody’s short story, Perchance to Dream, which appeared in the Dreaming Again anthology in 2008, read by Cynthia P Colby. The portion of the podcast available here has been published purely for archiving purposes. Perchance to Dream Anna woke knowing she had been dreaming, but as so often with dreams, to wake was to forget. Strange to remember vividly...

  • The Stone Key Readings

Here are the transcripts of Isobelle Carmody’s readings from Convergence in June 2007. Watch all the recordings via this Playlist on Youtube. Reading 1 I thought of the premonition that had assailed me earlier. “I begin to fear we were too quick to let people know of our refuge. Suddenly everything seems less sure, than when the rebellion ended.” Brydda shook his head. “If you’d kept your refuge secret, it...

  • An Excerpt from The Stone Witch

Here’s the thing. I hate kids. Always have. I mean, I know the job of the race, biologically speaking, is to achieve immortality through reproduction, but the idea of getting impregnated and blowing up like a balloon as I serve as a carrier and service unit for this other person who will eventually burst out of me in the most terrifying way imaginable, then carry on using me one way...
